Beautifully framed (Jollijst, Amsterdam) erotic print by Aat Veldhoen from 1964. Frame dimensions: w 61 cm x h 51 cm.
Veldhoen grew up in Amsterdam. Veldhoen started his career as a draftsman, but soon established his name as a free artist. Veldhoen liked to make detailed drawings and paintings of dune landscapes, self-portraits, naked women and couples making love.
He bought his first etching press from the Royal Subsidy for Painting, which he received three times in a row around 1956. He later started drawing directly on offset plates to make rotaprints.
In 1964, Aat Veldhoen learned how to make a rotaprint (from a web press) from METTEN KOORNSTRA.There are three slightly darker spots on the rota print: one at the top near the edge of the yoke; one at the knees and a very small one on the lady's chest. Otherwise excellent condition.
