Product description
Beautiful, large art nouveau mirror depicting the Isolde myth, by the design of Aubrey Beardsley - 1895. Audrey Beardsley was a rather avant-garde illustrator and writer (1872-1898).
He is famous for his color lithographs.
Wagner was often his inspiration. Beardsley drew the tragic heroine Isolde, who is about to empty the fatal love potion. The drawing is soberly stylized, with only one color accent. Beardsley said of it, ' I have no great care for color, but color is essential'. This design was first published in 1895.
You may scour the Internet looking for a similar mirror, but this version is very rare, especially at this size. The fluted frame also frames the mirror very appropriately and stylishly. A piece of timeless class. Dimensions see below.
Wonderful in a hallway, bistro, hospitality or mancave.
Weight: 7 kg
Dimensions wooden frame: 90 cm x 64 cm
Heavy wooden staple for fixing to the wall at the back of the solid wood frame.
