The "Plia" is a folding chair by Giancarlo Piretti for Castelli. This folding chair is a design icon of the 1960s: "The sign of a new era in which plastic takes center stage. The Plia chair was introduced with this description in 1967 at the Fiera del Mobile in Milan. Giancarlo Piretti, the designer of the Plia chair, is praised for his idea of a folding chair with "three-disc hinge. By now, the Plia has pretty much achieved cult status and is made of chromed metal and polypropylene. Democratic Design. Italian Design. This set consists of 4 folding chairs of light plastic, and 4 of slightly darker plastic (smoked variant). The light variant has the design name in the border (see photo). The dark variant each has a sticker on the bottom (see photo). The chairs are used and with scratches (so not in new condition), but soak (fold/fold) all 8 still fine. Folded up very compact to store. Vintage from the 60s, this set is from an inheritance and comes from the 1st owner. The chairs are used and with scratches (so not in new condition), but soak (fold/fold) all 8 still fine. Folded up very compact to store. Vintage from the 60s. There is some rust spotting in the edges/seams of the dark 4 chairs. Likewise some light rust at smaller scratches. None of the 4 chairs have cracks in the pastik of the seat.
