A complete set of 6 Thonet no. 16 chairs by Romania. In exceptionally nice condition. Construction on all 6 chairs in excellent condition. Completely sturdy and stable. Beautiful dark brown color. The chairs have been checked, cleaned and put in dark brown beeswax. They are ready to use. The design of this chair is originally from Thonet and is also known as the Thonet no. 16. The 16 is a variant of the better-known Thonet no. 14 and no. 18, both true icons in furniture design. These chairs were produced in Romania in the 1960s-1980s. They have a stamp under seats "Romania". These furniture factories were originally founded around 1900 by Thonet. After the advent of communism, these factories were expropriated and nationalized. The Thonet name disappeared, but they continued to make the Thonet designs, using the authentic Thonet machines and molds to bend the beech wood ("bentwood"). The chairs are in Groningen city. You are welcome to come and see them and pick them up if you wish. You can also have them delivered via Whoppah and/or Brenger. Shipping by parcel post is also possible.
