Product description
Set of 6 Thonet chairs with webbing seats. Thonet stamps and labels present. Construction on all six chairs excellent, sturdy and stable. Rattan webbing seats authentic and in very good condition. Beautiful red-brown color, with some variations between chairs. Good seat height of 47 cm. The chairs are waxed and ready to use. Michael Thonet is the inventor of the so-called "bentwood"; the steamed beech wood that could be bent using molds, so that for the first time it was possible to design furniture with the bent shapes. This happened as early as 1859. The model no 14 is his most beloved model and is still being produced and recreated. It is probably the most successful furniture design ever. The chairs are on display in Groningen. You are welcome to drop by. Or you can have the chairs delivered via Whoppah.
Chairs were produced around 1900. Needless to say, there are signs of use. The chairs are in excellent condition, with a beautiful patina
