Mario Bellini is an internationally renowned architect and designer. He received the Golden Compass Award eight times and 25 of his works are in the permanent design collection of the New York MoMA, which dedicated a personal retrospective exhibition to him in 1987. He was editor of Domus magazine (1985-1991) and designed numerous art, design and architecture exhibitions over the years, both in Italy and abroad.
In 2015, the Milan Triennale awarded him the Gold Medal for his career in architecture and in 2017 he dedicated a retrospective exhibition that was subsequently the subject of a world tour. Since the 1980, he has devoted himself mainly to architecture with numerous prestigious creations, including: the Portello Trade Fair district in Milan, the Villa Erba exhibition and conference center in Cernobbio (Como), the Tokyo Design Center in Japan, the National Gallery or Victoria in Melbourne, the Islamic Art department of the Louvre in Paris, the new Milan Convention Centre, the new international Airterminal T3 in Rome Fiumicino.
Among the projects he is developing are the “Bin-County Project”, a new city for entertainment, sports and culture in the Harbin area of China (2018-2023) and a large residential cultural and Sports “Oasis” in the Gulf area .
In 1998 we placed six Bellini chairs in an all-white, 15 meter long stand at the annual Salone furniture fair in Milan. We knew this modern indoor/outdoor chair was something special and deserved a standout debut – and to say we stole the show would be an understatement.
Everyone who walked by stopped to admire the clean, sculptural lines. Some asked if there is a metal frame hidden inside (there isn't). But the most striking reaction was when the owner of a leading furniture retailer saw it and stopped the presses on his catalog to add the Bellini chair to the cover. Today, the Bellini continues to impress. This sturdy, stackable, lightweight chair is exceptionally comfortable with a slightly flexible backrest. It's tough enough to withstand use in a busy restaurant and elegant enough to flatter a sophisticated studio or home.
This chair earned the celebrated Italian architect and designer Mario Bellini his eighth Compasso d'Oro Prize in 2001. Bellini is in the design collections of many museums around the world. (2014-2022).
Signs of use/scratches on the seats. The new price of these chairs is € 295.00, which is why the price is also relatively low.
