This set is a design from the 1920s, but produced in the 1980s, most likely through Ecart International, a top quality Parisian manufacturer. René Herbst was a French furniture designer and architect, best known for his advocacy of the industrialization of furniture as a form of modern art. He co-founded the French Union of Modern Artists in 1929.
