Product description
Marko S201 Set of 6 industrial chairs, 1950s, Netherlands.
Designed by Ynske Kooistra and manufactured by Dutch furniture maker Marko, well known in the 1950s.
The Classic Dutch Passer/spin leg chair may have been originally designed by Prouve, who inspired some wonderful chair designs in the late 1950s. Friso Kramer and Wim Rietveld designed the result chair in the 1950s alongside the S16 chair designed and produced by Galvanitas. From this creative period stems the S201 by Dutch company Marko and is one of the most ornate variants with its curved front leg allowing the sprung chair frame. Made of a sheet steel frame with a finely laminated and molded seat and back. Original label still visible on some chairs. see images.
The chairs can be viewed and/or collected in Westbroek (Utrecht) by appointment.
The chairs are still in good steel. No deep scratches or cracks in the laminated seats and backrests. some of the seats have some faded paint. The bases do have some signs of use but are complete and all still have the original floor glides.
