6 pieces in excellent condition Harry Bertoia dining chairs. Sculptural design by Italian-American sculptor and designer Harry Bertoia from 1956. The construction of welded wire rod was revolutionary at the time and brought the artist international attention. Bertoia's wire chairs are now icons of Mid - Century design. The chairs look light and airy yet are stable and comfortable. Art historian Brian Lutz commented on Bertoia's work as follows, "Bertoia's paintings were better than his sculptures. And his sculptures were better than his furniture. And his furniture was absolutely brilliant". All six dining chairs are in exceptional vintage condition and have the original cushions marked by Knoll International.
