Beschrijving over het werk:
Anonymous lieutenant governors, posing as a silent power with prestige. While the human forms are still visible, they also look like they're hiding from any recognizable human traits. As birds in paradise they try to intimidate the viewer.
Inspired by centuries old portraits of important (and often holy) people of power, whose personlike qualities, clothing and context of time are estranged from us.
In the background I used a texture known from old book covers and drawing maps. Together with black it forms a contrast with the bright pastel coloured paper.
