Rennie chair, designer Kazuhide Takahama at manufactory Simón Milano, a 1970 design. Takahama was a Japanese designer who was born in Tokyo in 1930 and died in 2010. He studied architecture at the University of Tokyo before going to work for his father Takahama Industry Corporation's design company. 1955 he moved to Milan, where he went to work for the Italian design firm Gavina. He worked with well-known Italian designers, such as Mario Bellini and Archille Castiglioni. Over the course of his career, Takahama won many prestigious awards, including the Compasso d'Oro in 1962 for his work with Gavina and in 1979 for the Selene chair he designed for Cassina. His creations have been exhibited in museums around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
