Huise, BelgiumView all items from this sellerGiò Ponti is perhaps the most influential personality in Italian design and architecture for nearly three decades, from the 1950s to the 1970s. In his long career, he was able to leave an unforgettable mark on furniture, tableware, architecture and interior decoration. One of his most famous works is the 699 chair designed for Cassina, and aptly named "Superleggera," Italian for Ultralight, given its spring-like weight of only 1,700 grams per chair. The Superleggera is one of the most beloved chairs ever made. These are four original chairs produced and originally purchased by my parents in the 1970s. The chairs were professionally re-seated on the black lacquered wood frame about 10 years ago. Three chairs are in very good condition, certainly the seating condition is perfect. You can see in the pictures some signs of use on the frame, which indicate that the chairs have been used. On 1 chair, there is a piece of cane that is loose at the back (but is attached and thus does not affect the seating quality or strength)On 1 chair, 1 cane (underside) is loose. Not visible in front and no effect on chair strength. Also can't budge any further. All chairs have light signs of use (see photos)
