Product description
A very beautiful sculpture in hardwood - Wengé wood from RDC (Congo)
Pure chiseling…
Untreated – natural wood grains.
Not 3D but 4D (faces) each with a different facial expression.
Do I see a 'Picasso' eye or a cool look there...
Never looked forward to it 😊
Height: 95 cm – depth: 25 cm – width: 35 cm.
Shipping is very difficult (to pack the statue) - but with the Whoppah courier service this should be possible.
I consider myself a self-taught artist.
Despite (and with the greatest respect) my uncle partly taught me wood sculpting and the passion for it
during my youth ('70s-'80s)
At the end of the last century, the unique diptych of years of collaboration between the Congolese artist Mbungu (RDC) and myself as a non-professional sculptor followed.
The unfinished, rough, rough wood shapes were further finished by me here after drying for at least 10 years. All statues are chiseled and sanded by hand.
Not obvious because they are all made of hardwood, namely Wengé or Iroko.
Two very hard, bone-hard tropical woods with a great wood grain and patina.
