Product description
Very rare plywood chair from the early 1940s, originally designed by W.H. Gispen in the 1930s.
These chairs have the original mark under the seat. This mark was used by Gispen until 1960.
Nowadays it is almost impossible to find a set of 4 with this mark!
In addition, they have the original nuts and bolts instead of rivets which can be seen to be from this period.
These chairs have been verified as original by the Gispen Foundation in the Netherlands.
The chairs have obvious signs of use, but that is acceptable considering the age and rarity of the items. 1 chair is missing some bolts and nuts. All chairs have a great used look that cannot be duplicated! The chairs have recently been lightly restored and treated with clear wax to maintain authenticity.
Some missing or replaced nuts and bolts.
Plywood is 90 years old and shows wear according to its age.
