These postmodern stacking chairs made of plywood and steel backrests were designed by Tina Christensen for Ikea in the 1990s. They are an excellent example of the stylish and functional design that was popular in this era.
The vintage Ikea 'Nordisk' dining chairs combine plywood and bent steel to create a light but sturdy design. Tina Christensen's design was inspired by the Ligne Roset RIO dining chairs by Pascal and Olivier Mourgue. Both designs are known for their right-angled use of wood and the elegant handling of raw steel, perfectly reflecting the postmodern aesthetic of the 90s.
