EA 208 by Vitra belongs to the Soft Pad Group of the Aluminum Group, developed by Ray and Charles Eames. The design dates from 1969 and is slightly more opulent in form than its slender relatives, but no less bright and elegant. It is not only the shape that inspires, the design and construction are particularly impressive. The upholstery fabric is fixed between aluminum side sections, which are adapted to the shape of the human spine. By means of two cross beams, the seat is stretched and rolled at the top and bottom over two aluminum rods. The designers dispensed with their tried-and-true recipe for the success of the seat shell, instead making the upholstery the elemental component that makes up the seating surface. The stitched upholstery of the EA 208 provides an exciting contrast to the filigree profile of the swivel chair. Leather in various colors is available for the upholstery. The chair with the four-star base can be rotated 360° and is very comfortable thanks to its low seat height. The EA 208 offers soft comfort - whether in chic meeting and conference rooms or in the private home as a dinner chair
