Chair No. 17, later No. 207 R / 207 RF (also called Long John or Long John) is a c. 1865 design by Thonet founder Michael Thonet. Thonet is said to have based the design on the architecture of the Crystal Palace (destroyed by fire in 1936), where The London Great Exhibition took place in 1851 and where Thonet first exhibited chairs. These chairs have armrests. Paper Thonet label and stamp in the wood under the seat. Black painted beech wood with woven rattan (Wiener Geflecht) in seat and back. Wood and rattan in good condition. The chair has a new rattan seat. For the age normal signs of use. Dimensions: high 116 cm, wide 53 cm, deep 54 cm, seat height 47 cm.
