'Fine sharkshin-patterned kimono' 鮫小紋 and 'Beautiful Woman Burning Incense' 香を焚く女 - Japan - ca 1970-80 (Late Showa-periode)
Takasawa Keiichi was born in Gunma prefecture in 1914. In 1936 he dropped out of Nihon University school of technology, and subsequently he studied with Fujita Tsugeharu, who strongly influenced him.
Famous for his paintings of beautiful women. His paintings of women have a fascinating allure that attracts many viewers. Takasawa's bijin-ga prints are highly sought-after and rare.
It is also rare to see bijin-ga prints in this large "double-oban" size. It is said that Takasawa's wife modelled for all his bijin prints.
Takasawa's white Japanese and English signature are in the image area at the lower right, and signed in pencil in the bottom margin (right).
