After graduating from the Politecnico in his native Milan, Paolo Buffa (1903-1970) worked at the office of Gio Ponti for some time. Before long he embarked on a solo career. During the 1930s Buffa attracted a large number of predominantly wealthy clients, designing both houses and interiors. In 1940 he was requested by the King of Albania to design the interior of his royal palace. And in 1951 he received his second royal commission when King Farouk of Egypt asked him to redesign the interior of his yacht. Buffa received another notable naval order some years later, when he was commissioned to design interiors for the cruise liner Leonardo da Vinci.
