Beautiful pair of Dutch design lounge chairs designed by Rob Parry, made by Gelderland in the Netherlands, circa 1960.
Beautiful chromed metal base with hardwood armrests and frame. Upholstered in high quality black leather, which beautifully complements the colors and materials and gives them a very modern look. The very recognizable shape and high-quality finish make this set a wonderful addition to any interior. A great find for any design lover.
In excellent vintage condition, with light wear consistent with age and use, retaining a beautiful patina.
About the designer:
A number of iconic furniture designs by Rob Parry have now been re-released with the designer's approval under the label: Rob Parry Originals. Rob Parry (born 1925) is a well-known Dutch designer of industrial design. Gerrit Rietveld was one of his teachers. His style is characterized by elegant lines and the way materials are used.
Parry studied at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. After graduating, Parry started his own company. Until 1995, he designed interiors, furniture, stands, exhibitions, jewelry, lettering and toys. He also taught architectural design at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam for thirty years. Several of Rob Parry's designs are in the collections of various museums, including the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam and Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam.
