Set of two teacher chairs with a great look. Chrome tubular frame with bakelite armrests, plywood backrest and a seat covered with a beautiful deep green corduroy.
Although the chairs are not marked, they are identical to the Gispen 213 series. It is also possible that these chairs were manufactured by De Wit, Ahrend or the Belgian Tubax.
These chairs were used as an office chair in the 1950s and 60s in the Boerenleenbank in Simpelveld (Limburg), when the farmer's loan bank became the Rabobank and the interior was modernized, an employee took the chairs home and kept them in the attic.
Height 83 cm, depth 53 cm, width 54 cm.
The seat height is 47 cm and the arm height is 70 cm.
The chairs are in a used vintage condition with a beautiful weathered backrest, the chrome and the upholstery still look fresh considering the age. One chair has a small burn mark in the upholstery (at that time people still smoked in the office), but it is not really disturbing, small imperfections give these chairs a soul, see photo.
