Product description
This design classic was named Grasshopper Chair because its curved wooden legs were reminiscent of the hind legs of a grasshopper. The chair was intended for relaxing and reclining, reading or relaxing. The chair has been restored according to the original production methods and materials. No-Sag springs, horsehair and foam were used to ensure lasting comfort, while high-quality fabric complements the chair's quirky shape and overall look. The chair is upholstered all around, including the bottom.
Eero Saarinen was a Finnish-American architect and furniture designer best known for designing the now TWA Flight Center in New York City and the Womb Chair (designed in 1947). Knoll took all Saarinen chairs into production and became very successful internationally.
The Grasshopper Chair was designed in 1946 under model number 61 and produced only briefly (until 1965) by Knoll Associates.
Note the patina and signs of use on the wooden frame. We decided not to restore it as it proves its authenticity and age.
