Early in his career, Zevi worked as an architect, but soon turned to industrial design. He founded his own design studio in 1983, which quickly gained a reputation for its innovative and creative approach to design. Zevi is best known for his collaborations with renowned Italian companies such as Flos, Artemide, Alessi and Driade. He has created a wide range of products, including lighting, furniture, kitchen accessories and household items. Over the years, Zevi has received numerous awards and distinctions for his work, including the Compasso d'Oro in 1987 for his "Conica" lamp for the Nemo company, and in 2001 for his "Tabouret" for the Driade company. His work is exhibited in museums and galleries around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Centre Pompidou in Paris. Renato Zevi also taught industrial design at Rome's La Sapienza University and took part in design conferences around the world. He passed away in 2018 at the age of 67.
