In São Paulo, Jorge Zalszupin founded his own furniture company in 1959, called L'Atelier, which quickly became one of Brazil's most important and influential design studios. His work, influenced by modern architecture, is characterized by clean lines, geometric shapes and the use of wood and other natural materials. Over the years, Jorge Zalszupin has designed a wide variety of furniture for homes, offices and public spaces, some of which have become classics of Brazilian design. Among his most famous works are the Presidencial chair, the Dinamarquesa chair, the Clube armchair and the Brasilia sofa. In 2013, he was awarded the Designers' Saturday Lifetime Achievement Award. Jorge Zalszupin was a pioneer of Brazilian design, helping to introduce the country's modern aesthetic to the world. His vision of design as a means of improving people's quality of life and creating beautiful, functional spaces continues to inspire designers the world over.
