After studying at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Frederiksen worked as a freelance graphic designer before joining the Danish design and architecture firm Carl Hansen & Søn in 1950. There, he created several iconic pieces of furniture, including the "CH-30" chair and the "CH-337" table, which have become classics of Danish design. In 1961, Frederiksen left Carl Hansen & Søn to found his own industrial design company, Sidse Werner Design Studio, which worked for clients such as Fritz Hansen, Tivoli Gardens and the Royal Danish Navy. During his career, Frederiksen won numerous awards for his design work, including the gold medal at the Milan Triennale in 1957 and the Danish Design Award in 1967. He was also appointed Professor of Industrial Design at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1972. Today, Werner Frederiksen's work is exhibited in museums and design collections around the world, and he is recognized as one of the greatest Danish designers of the 20th century.
