The duo began working together in the 1950s, having both studied industrial design at the Trondheim School of Arts and Crafts. Their studio has been active for over 30 years, during which time they have worked on a wide variety of design projects, from household products to medical equipment. Elsa and Nordahl Solheim are best known for their work on a wide range of products for Norwegian tableware brand Figgjo. Their collaboration resulted in porcelain tableware collections such as the famous Lotus series, with its delicate floral motifs. They also worked on furniture design for the Norwegian furniture company Stokke, creating the Tripp Trapp high chair, which has become an industrial design classic. Over the course of their careers, Elsa and Nordahl Solheim won several awards for their work, including the Norwegian Industrial Design Award in 1968 and the Excellent Swedish Design Award in 1970. Their legacy lives on in many homes, thanks to their timeless creations that continue to be appreciated by design enthusiasts the world over.
