During his studies, he worked on several product, furniture and lighting design projects, winning several awards and recognitions for his work. After graduating, Smidek worked for various design companies in the Czech Republic, where he continued to develop his design vision, focusing on creating innovative products that solve everyday problems. In 2016, he set up his own design company, Smidek Design, where he focuses on creating products that combine aesthetics and functionality. His work has been showcased at several design exhibitions in Europe and has won several awards, including the prestigious Red Dot Award. Smidek is considered one of the most talented designers of his generation in the Czech Republic, and his work has been widely praised for its simplicity, elegance and functionality.
