After studying architecture and design at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, Pierre Schneider began his career working for advertising agencies. In 1963, he founded his own design studio, where he devoted himself to creating furniture, lighting and decorative objects. Pierre Schneider is influenced by the "new realism" movement, and also draws inspiration from organic forms and nature to create elegant, functional designs. He works for major brands such as Airborne, Baccarat, Hermès, Knoll and Technal. His creations have been exhibited in numerous museums and contemporary art galleries around the world, and several have won prestigious awards, such as the Prix de la Création de la Ville de Paris in 1969. Pierre Schneider also taught design at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, and helped train many renowned designers. His influence on French design remains very important today.
