During his career, Olsen created numerous designs for Norwegian companies, including appliances for AS Elektro-Hønefoss, furniture for LK Hjelle and lighting fixtures for Noral. One of Olsen's best-known creations is the Luxo L-1 lamp, designed in 1937. This desk lamp has become an icon of Norwegian industrial design, and is famous for its flexibility and ease of use. The Luxo L-1 lamp is exhibited in many museums and galleries around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
