Mazza studied at Milan Polytechnic and began his career working for the design studios of Gigi Caccia Dominioni and Marco Zanuso. He then founded his own studio in 1956, where he created design pieces for brands such as Artemide, Cassina and Quattrifolio. Some of his most famous creations include the "1063" table lamp for Artemide and the "Sciangai" armchair for Zanotta. He was also involved in the design of numerous store interiors and exhibition stands. Mazza is considered one of the most important designers of the post-war period in Italy, with an elegant, functional style that reflects the influences of modernism and minimalism.
