Inger Klingenberg was a Norwegian designer who was born in 1940 and died in 1993. She is best known for her work in textile design and tapestry. She studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and then worked as an assistant to the renowned textile designer Jacqueline Groag in London. She returned to Norway in 1966 and began working for the textile design company Plus, where she created patterns for upholstery fabrics, rugs and cushions. In 1972, she founded her own textile design company, Inger Klingenberg Design, which quickly became a success. Her colorful, expressive patterns were very popular and were used in many Norwegian interiors. Inger Klingenberg has also worked on furniture design projects and designed textiles for public buildings such as hotels and hospitals. She won several awards for her work, including the Jacobprisen Prize in 1978 and the Norwegian Industrial Design Award in 1980. Sadly, Inger Klingenberg died prematurely in 1993 at the age of 53, but her legacy as an innovative and creative textile designer continues to inspire Norwegian designers today.
