After studying at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Kastholm worked for various design studios before founding his own company in 1961, in collaboration with fellow countryman Preben Fabricius. Together, they created several iconic pieces, including the "Scimitar" chair, the "Grasshopper" chaise longue and the "Boomerang" table. Kastholm's work is characterized by a particular attention to detail and materials, as well as a clean, elegant aesthetic. His designs have often been compared to those of his contemporary and compatriot Arne Jacobsen, although Kastholm has developed his own distinctive style. Over the course of his career, Kastholm has won several awards and distinctions for his work, including the Danish Design Prize in 1967 and a gold medal at the Milan Biennale in 1968. His creations continue to be sought after by collectors and design enthusiasts worldwide.
