During her career, Hörlin-Holmquist created elegant, modernist furniture for a number of Swedish design companies, including NK, Nordiska Galleriet and Möbel AB. She is best known for her "Cocoon" chair (1959), which won the design competition organized by the Swedish magazine "Bonnier's Weekly" in 1959. Hörlin-Holmquist also designed interiors for public and private buildings, including the Swedish Embassy in New Delhi and the Swedish Ambassador's residence in Tokyo. She died on November 17, 1997 in Stockholm, Sweden, at the age of 72. Today, her creations are considered classics of Swedish design and are exhibited in museums around the world.
