He began his career as an advertising designer, working for the publishing house Les Éditions du Carrefour. In 1929, he joined the Alliance Graphique advertising agency, where he worked alongside other great names in French design, such as Cassandre and Jean Carlu. In 1932, Raoul Guys founded his own design agency, Société Raoul Guys, which later became Société Raoul Guys et Associés. He worked for a number of prestigious clients, including Rochas perfumes, Printemps stores, Gallimard publishing house and Le Monde newspaper. Throughout his career, Raoul Guys was renowned for his advertising posters, book covers and graphic creations for the film industry. He is also known for having designed the SNCF logo in 1938. Raoul Guys is considered one of the pioneers of graphic design in France. He brought a touch of elegance and modernity to his creations, using bright colors and simple geometric shapes. His work has influenced many French and international designers.
