During the 1920s and 1930s, De Coene Frères became one of Europe's leading manufacturers of Art Deco furniture, with customers all over the world. In the 1950s and 1960s, the company turned to a more contemporary style, and began working with renowned designers such as Alfred Hendrickx and Jules Wabbes. As well as producing furniture, De Coene Frères also worked on numerous architectural projects, including the construction of iconic buildings such as the Brussels Palace of Justice and Brussels National Airport. The company closed in 1975, but its legacy as a furniture manufacturer and innovative design company continues to be celebrated worldwide.
