They met at the Vienna School of Fine Arts, where they both studied design. They then worked for design agencies in Europe before founding their own design studio in Copenhagen in 1960. Their work was marked by a minimalist, functional and innovative style, which influenced Scandinavian design at the time. They worked on numerous industrial design projects for renowned brands such as Fritz Hansen, Louis Poulsen and Rosenthal. They also designed interiors for public spaces and private residences. In 1970, they were awarded the prestigious Danish Design Prize for their contribution to industrial design and their impact on the furniture industry. They continued to work together until their retirement in 2000. Their work is exhibited in many design museums around the world.
