After graduating, Aarseth worked as an industrial designer for several companies, including the office furniture and furnishing company Hjellegjerde, for whom he designed revolutionary ergonomic office chairs. In the early 1970s, Aarseth began working for the office furniture company HÅG, for whom he created many popular and innovative office chairs. In 1974, he designed the Capisco chair, which has become one of his best-known and most influential creations. The Capisco chair is an ergonomic chair that can be used in many different positions, making it particularly suitable for modern, dynamic work environments. Aarseth has won several awards for his designs, including the Scandinavian Design Institute Prize in 1976 for the Capisco chair. He also taught industrial design at the University of Oslo for many years. Aarseth is considered one of Norway's most influential industrial designers. His work has had a major influence on the design of furniture and ergonomic products worldwide, and he is still widely recognized and respected today.
