Born in Padua, Italy, Rinaldi began his career working in the family carpentry business. He then studied design in Venice, where he was influenced by the Italian modernist movement. In 1954, Rinaldi founded his own design company, RIMA. He soon began designing furniture using modern materials such as metal and plastic, helping to create a new style of Italian furniture. His pieces were often characterized by organic, sculptural shapes and bold, vivid colors. Among Rinaldi's best-known creations are the "Tucroma" chair (1957), which features a crescent-shaped back, and the "Onda" chair (1964), which has a wave-shaped seat. He also designed pieces for brands such as Cassina, Knoll and Arteluce. During his career, Rinaldi won numerous awards for his work, including the Compasso d'Oro in 1956 and 1960. Today, his creations are considered icons of twentieth-century Italian design.
