These unique, characterful chairs have it all: a timeless silhouette, stylish metal legs, and a sturdy seat. They're just waiting for a makeover!
I bought the chairs 25 years ago from the estate of a wholesaler of interior textiles – a place that also housed iconic pieces like the Pastoe Tulip chairs, Cees Braakman (Pastoe) cabinets, and other beautiful designer furniture.
The exact designer unfortunately remains a mystery, but the design exudes the style of the 1960s and 1970s and is strongly reminiscent of classics from Artifort, Gispen, or even the Deauville armchairs by Pierre Gautier Delaye (Airborne).
The chairs need reupholstering, but they're definitely worth it because the quality of the frame is truly top-notch. The metal base is very sturdy and still in good condition. The wooden seat, extra back support, comfortable cushions, and wide armrests provide a fantastic seating experience. I used them for years as dining chairs, and believe me... you'll easily linger for hours after a meal sitting in them.
So give them a freshening up with your favorite fabric, and you'll have real vintage gems in your home that you'll enjoy for years to come – perfect for the dining room, home office, or a stylish corner of the house.
