Rare vintage IKEA candle holders designed by Ehlén Johansson in 1987.
Ehlén's vision for stone candle holders took her to a local stone quarry where she found surplus dolerite pieces. From this material she created three unique candle holders, bundled as a set.
The KRÄSEN candle holders from 1987 seamlessly combined ancient materials with a modern aesthetic. An internal protocol from the same year challenged the idea that modern style had stagnated, and presented these new KRÄSEN candle holders with natural stone bases, iron wire rods and brass candle holders. These designs bridged the worlds of material, design and function.
