This is a unique artwork because its original; there’s only one.
I commissioned an artist named Olonana from Arusha, Tanzania, in 1984, to make a modern interpretation of traditional Maasai art.
It is also unique because of its very large size: 190 x 238cm.
The painting is not discoloured and in excellent vintage condition.
Olanana did not sign his painting, which is normal in Africa; the work has to speak for itself.
The black canvass bands adjacent to the painting are original, but can be removed.
There is a tiny 1cm hole in the black canvass side panel, which can easily be repaired. It never bothered me because that's how I received it from the artists in 1984.
