Very high quality and at the same time beautiful sunflower motif by the Hamburg painter Will Spanier (1894-1957) from the 1930s/40s. Wonderful color and depth! Guaranteed original watercolor on thin cardboard by Will Spanier. Unframed, which means taken from a damaged framing, but the original cardboard cover is included. The watercolor is signed lower right by the artist: Spanier. Cardboard dimensions: 50 x 39.5 cm. In really very fine condition, with only a few traces of age. Only at the outer edge, top left, has the artist once skillfully backed the sheet (see photo).

Traces of framing around the margin on the reverse. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Will Spanier 30.01.1894 Hamburg - 14.08.1957 Mölln/Schleswig-Holstein Will Spanier was a very versatile painter and graphic artist. Pupil at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Hamburg under Arthur Illies, then studied at the Stuttgart Academy under Christian Landenberger. 1914-1918 soldier. Member of the Hamburgische Künstlerschaft and the Hamburger Künstlerverein as well as the Schleswig-Holstein Künstler-Gesellschaft. From 1932 he lives on Erlenkamp. In the same year, he co-founded the "Neue Hamburger Gruppe". From 1939 to 1945, he was again deployed as a soldier. In the 1950s, co-founder of the artist groups "Palette" and "Niederelbe". Undertook many study trips, e.g. to Paris, Italy, Austria and Belgium in 1926/27. Frequent study visits to Utersum on Föhr, as well as Worpswede. Works by him are preserved in the Kunsthalle in Hamburg.
