Product description
Antique sewing box, wooden tramp art box with green fabric sides and a pincushion on top, unique handmade object, at the bottom a metal plate engraved with the maker and date, dated 1928. The key is with it but is purely decorative. Beautiful form of folk art, anyone could make a tramp art object with whatever they had on hand, hence very rare to find 2 identical pieces, these unique items therefore have a high collector's value and are highly sought after. Tramp art is a style of woodworking that emerged in America in the second half of the 19th century. Some of the defining characteristics of tramp art include chip or notch carving, reclaiming cheap or available wood such as that from cigar boxes and shipping crates, using simple tools such as pocket knives, and layering materials into geometric shapes using glue or nails. This object is in good used condition, a small missing part on the side, small missing pieces of wood here and there, the lock no longer works but the object still looks great, check the photos for more details! Dimensions: LBH 24x16x14cm. Weight: 0.921kg.
