Italian folding "Savonarola" chair. The chair is made of solid wood (presumably walnut) and has an X-frame. The armrests are beautifully decorated on the ends with carved lion heads. The rear bulkhead is also worked in relief and is also removable. These chairs are also known as Dante, Luther, Dagobert chairs. These chairs were very popular in the 19th century during the Italian Renaissance.
