Signature of Raoul Ubac After traveling through Europe on foot in the late 1920s, Ubac settled in Paris in 1930. There he came into contact with artists of surrealism and began making surrealist photographs and drawings. He later began training at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Cologne. In 1938, he participated in an exhibition in Paris along with other surrealists. In 1950, he came in contact with the Cobra movement through Christian Dotremont. He participated in some exhibitions together with other artists of Cobra. His work has obvious surrealist characteristics and later became more abstract. Through his contacts with Cobra, he began to experiment especially with color. In his later work we also see mosaics and reliefs.
