Product description
"Military aviation acquired immortal fame for the great courage and self-sacrifice shown in the fulfillment of its war task," the Commander-in-Chief of Army and Navy said. He awarded the Knight's Cross of the Military Order of William to the Armed Forces of Military Aviation by Decree of May 18, 1940. "Even the non-flying portion of military aviation has, under the most difficult circumstances imaginable, both on and off airfields, lived up to the motto: 'courage, policy and fidelity'." This plaque could be purchased at the time and was intended to restore morale after the period of mobilization and the then current occupation. Originally, this plaque hung on a red, white, blue ribbon. The plaque is made of plaster with 2 metal hooks. Entire is in beautiful condition. No repairs. Chip on the wing and base of the lion. See photos. Approximate dimensions: Height: 33.5 cm Width: 22.5 cm Weight: 730 grams (0.73 kg)

Normal signs of use consistent with age. See description.
