Product description
Exceptional pair of oil paintings on canvas in which two views of elegant houses in broad daylight are presented. They are entitled The Shadow of the Tree on the White Façade and The House with the Blue Door.
In both, the composition stands out, taking a complicated point of view, avoiding showing the buildings from the front. “The Shadow of the Tree on the White Façade” is divided into two vertical halves. On the left, the white wall on the side of the building is shown, on which the shadow of the tree is projected, from which only a couple of branches can be seen. The right area shows the blue fence that closes the perimeter of the house, of which some classically inspired ornamentation can be seen, such as the fluted pillars and the drops that decorate the cornice.
For its part, “The House with the Blue Door” shows the entrance to another house, with slate roofs in a blueish tone that combines with the intense blue of the fence and that stands out against the white of the façade, illuminated by the bright light of midday. The coloured shadows also contribute to this blue atmosphere, all of it sprinkled with green touches of vegetation. The voussoir frames surrounding the openings and the imitation of the Renaissance-inspired rustication on the wall supporting the exterior fence stand out on this façade.
These pendant works were created expressly to be exhibited together, as a pair, which gives them greater expressive force. Both are signed and dated.
