MINH TRAN
Was born on 05-04-1965 in Saigon, Vietnam. As a 15-year-old, he fled from Communist-conquered South Vietnam with some family members and over a hundred other Vietnamese.
CREATIVE TALENT
After graduating from the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten "Constantijn Huygens" in Kampen, Minh used his creative talent to depict others' stories on commission. Within that framework, his technique refined.
An incurable illness forced him to adapt his way of working. When the end of his life story came near at once, a strong urge came to depict that story first, not as an illustrator, not as he had always worked, but from life itself, the flowers, the garden, nature, memory, that which was his life.
The limitations the illness gave became opportunities to discover a new way of working. Behind the drawing table was not possible, but standing at the easel was.
NEW PLAYFULNESS
And later he had his drawing pad with him everywhere. Gardening was no longer possible, but capturing the wealth of color and form was all the more so. A new playfulness emerged, resulting in the painting of household goods.
