Mid Century Retro Vintage Sideboards by Beithcraft 60's scandinavian design An absolutely stunning example of a midcentury design piece. This superb high quality design sideboard was produced by Beithcraft in the 1960's. Pieces like this, designed by Val Rossi of Beithcraft's 'Modern Range' in the mid 1960's, are among the rarest British sideboards from that period. These premium pieces are produced and sold in very small quantities and are highly collectable and a solid investment, with pieces quickly increasing in value. This absolutely exquisite piece only shows the highest quality for which it was produced. The design of this stunning retro sideboard is very heavily influenced by the Danish furniture designers of this period. This piece has superb storage facilities. A set of three drawers in the middle. A cabinet section to the left hand side of the sideboard with a shelf. Next to the set of drawers is a pull down cocktail flap for enterning. Followed by a cabinet with shelving. Val Rossi transformed the fortunes of Beithcraft with a series of distinctive designs for sideboards and dining furniture, which directly led to the company being commissioned to produce bespoke pieces for the QE2. From the mid-19th century until the 1980s, Beith, in Ayrshire, was Scotland's leading furniture manufacturing town, with a resale for high-quality furniture. The industry in Beith can be traced back to Mathew Dale, who began making hand-made furniture for the locals in 1845. Until the early 1960s, Beithcraft continued to produce furniture that was very traditional, including Queen Anne style furniture in walnut. Frank Guille then began to design for them and Beithcraft began to produce the modern furniture that they are still so revered for today. Guille also designed for Kandya and Austinsuite. He had trained under Robin Day and Kaare Klint and so brought with him modern British and Danish influences. Val Rossi designed for AH McIntosh of Kirkcaldy in the 1960s under the direction of Tom Robertson. Rossi then seems to have picked up Guille's possition at Beithcraft around 1963/64 and it was Val Rossi who designed most of the excellent Beithcraft sideboards which are so popular all over the world today. Beithcraft was acquired by McIntosh in the 1970s. Today, Beithcraft pieces are highly sought after by collectors and interior designers for their timeless quality and sophisticated style. This rare Beithcraft sideboard is a unique opportunity to own a piece of mid-century design history.
