I bought these works by Peter Donkersloot 20 years ago at his gallery in Amsterdam. At that time I was also very busy with music and as a big fan of the Stones I had to have this on my wall at home :-) This is an original painting with beautiful black frame in top condition.

Peter Donkersloot (8 April 1959) is a contemporary artist from Arnhem. Donkersloot is originally an illustrator. He started his career as an illustrator at various publishing houses and advertising agencies. In his spare time, Donkersloot enjoyed himself artistically on canvas. After he decided to leave his illustrative career behind, Donkersloot developed into a true artist. His background in illustration is still clearly visible in his work on canvas. Peter Donkersloot paints according to the old 'layer upon layer' tradition. Transparent layers on top of each other give the paintings more depth and the colors are 'warmer'. Old masters worked in the same way, a beautiful and careful way of painting. You can say that Donkersloot gets his inspiration from old masters. Donkersloot often uses screen prints of the paintings of old masters. The idea is to transform old masterpieces into new and modern interpretations of the work.
